{"data":{"id":"us-vt/10-v.s.a.-6694","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"10 V.S.A. § 6694","heading":"Single-use plastic straws","body":"(a) A food service establishment shall not provide a single-use plastic straw to a customer, except that a food service establishment may provide a straw to a person upon request.\n(b) The prohibition on sale or provision of a single-use plastic straw under subsection (a) of this section shall not apply to:\n(1) a hospital licensed under 18 V.S.A. chapter 43;\n(2) a nursing home, residential care home, assisted living residence, home for the terminally ill, or therapeutic community, as those terms are defined in 33 V.S.A. chapter 71; or\n(3) an independent living facility as that term is defined in 32 V.S.A. chapter 225.\n(c) This section shall not alter the requirements of 9 V.S.A. chapter 139 regarding the provision of services by a place of public accommodation.","path":["Title 10: Conservation and Development","Chapter 159: Waste Management","Subchapter 005: SINGLE-USE CARRYOUT BAGS"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/10/159/06694","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T15:44:21Z","sha256":"266ccd16d66cffdebe139f499180d945945a61f3dad9041e6ac7ec50556a9a4d","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/10-v.s.a.-6693","next":"us-vt/10-v.s.a.-6695"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
