{"data":{"id":"us-vt/12-v.s.a.-3020","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"12 V.S.A. § 3020","heading":"Exemptions from trustee process generally","body":"The following named bodies corporate and persons shall not be liable or chargeable on trustee process:\n(1) A fire insurance company on account of a sum due from such company to the defendant in consequence of loss by fire of property exempt from attachment and execution;\n(2) A life insurance company by reason of having in its hands money not exceeding $500.00 due or payable under a policy of life insurance;\n(3) A person having in his or her hands monies due or belonging to the debtor, as his or her debenture as a member or officer of the General Assembly or as a petit or grand juror attending Superior Court;\n(4) A member of the General Assembly or officer of the State required to attend upon the General Assembly or to report thereto, upon a contract, express or implied, for board and lodging furnished to him or her by the principal debtor while attending the session of the General Assembly;\n(5) [Repealed.]\n(6) A person indebted for the services of a minor or married woman in an action against the parent of such minor or the husband of such married woman;\n(7) A corporation by reason of any money due from it to a person residing outside the State for services rendered outside the State, provided a like sum of money so due would be exempt from attachment by trustee process in the state where such person resides.\n(8) A person or corporation having in his, her, or its possession any goods, effects, or credits of a municipality, in any action or suit against such municipality as principal debtor or defendant.","path":["Title 12: Court Procedure","Chapter 121: Trustee Process","Subchapter 001: GENERALLY; ACTIONS IN WHICH AVAILABLE; PERSONS AND PROPERTY SUBJECT TO TRUSTEE PROCESS"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/12/121/03020","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T16:42:57Z","sha256":"18539e57e8621a62455bc0c41fa1a90fe4ce0c1247fd818259c3c3a0b2b59fae","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/12-v.s.a.-3019","next":"us-vt/12-v.s.a.-3021"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
