{"data":{"id":"us-vt/12-v.s.a.-5781","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"12 V.S.A. § 5781","heading":"Nonprofit organizations","body":"A person who serves without compensation as a director, officer, or trustee of a nonprofit organization qualified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as from time to time amended, shall not be held personally liable for damages resulting from:\n(1) any act or omission within the scope of the person’s official functions or duties which is done in good faith, unless it constitutes gross negligence or an intentional tort; however, this subdivision shall not protect a person from liability for damages which result from the operation of a motor vehicle;\n(2) any act or omission of an employee of the nonprofit organization; or\n(3) any act or omission of another director, officer, or trustee.","path":["Title 12: Court Procedure","Chapter 201: Immunity from Liability"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/12/201/05781","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T16:58:57Z","sha256":"db50200927e532065fe5e579fe9983dea604f98ff45f0d66a33fbc2bbd44c873","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/12-v.s.a.-5771","next":"us-vt/12-v.s.a.-5782"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
