{"data":{"id":"us-vt/13-v.s.a.-1043","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"13 V.S.A. § 1043","heading":"First degree aggravated domestic assault","body":"(a) A person commits the crime of first degree aggravated domestic assault if the person:\n(1) attempts to cause or willfully or recklessly causes serious bodily injury to a family or household member; or\n(2) uses, attempts to use, or is armed with a deadly weapon and threatens to use the deadly weapon on a family or household member; or\n(3) commits the crime of domestic assault and has been previously convicted of aggravated domestic assault.\n(b) A person who commits the crime of first degree aggravated domestic assault shall be imprisoned not more than 15 years or fined not more than $25,000.00, or both.\n(c) Conduct constituting the offense of first degree aggravated domestic assault under this section shall be considered a violent act for the purpose of determining bail.","path":["Title 13: Crimes and Criminal Procedure","Chapter 019: Breach of the Peace; Disturbances","Subchapter 006: DOMESTIC ASSAULTS"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/13/019/01043","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:09:27Z","sha256":"00b4c8eb4114706681adbaf33118bf3a0b825808d9a2a67d2216abb7feb00a20","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/13-v.s.a.-1042","next":"us-vt/13-v.s.a.-1044"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
