{"data":{"id":"us-vt/13-v.s.a.-2822","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"13 V.S.A. § 2822","heading":"Use of a child in a sexual performance","body":"(a) No person shall, with knowledge of the character and content, promote a sexual performance by a child or a performance that contains a lewd exhibition of the genitals, anus, or breasts of a child, or hire, employ, procure, use, cause, or induce a child to engage in such a performance.\n(b) In any prosecution arising under this section, the defendant may raise as an affirmative defense that before the child participated in the sexual performance, the defendant, in good faith, had a reasonable and factual basis to conclude that the child had in fact attained 16 years of age; and the defendant did not rely solely upon the oral allegations or representations of the child as to his or her age.","path":["Title 13: Crimes and Criminal Procedure","Chapter 064: Sexual Exploitation of Children"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/13/064/02822","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:16:58Z","sha256":"99f5d49981731ca81f7dc28f166da4a5a085f65b6a072eec49afaa8dcbdf1fbe","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/13-v.s.a.-2821","next":"us-vt/13-v.s.a.-2823"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
