{"data":{"id":"us-vt/13-v.s.a.-4022","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"13 V.S.A. § 4022","heading":"Bump-fire stocks; possession prohibited","body":"(a) As used in this section, “bump-fire stock” means a butt stock designed to be attached to a semiautomatic firearm and intended to increase the rate of fire achievable with the firearm to that of a fully automatic firearm by using the energy from the recoil of the firearm to generate a reciprocating action that facilitates the repeated activation of the trigger.\n(b) A person shall not possess a bump-fire stock. A person who violates this subsection shall be imprisoned not more than one year or fined not more than $1,000.00, or both.\n(c) The Department of Public Safety shall develop, promote, and execute a collection process that permits persons to voluntarily and anonymously relinquish bump-fire stocks prior to the effective date of this section.","path":["Title 13: Crimes and Criminal Procedure","Chapter 085: Weapons","Subchapter 001: GENERALLY"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/13/085/04022","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:16:58Z","sha256":"19f38b0214906901aa76c055ce65c8b33d797f064d2e60758947e308648db96e","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/13-v.s.a.-4021","next":"us-vt/13-v.s.a.-4023"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
