{"data":{"id":"us-vt/14a-v.s.a.-705","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"14A V.S.A. § 705","heading":"Resignation of trustee","body":"(a) A trustee may resign:\n(1) upon at least 30 days’ notice in writing to all cotrustees and to the qualified beneficiaries except those qualified beneficiaries under a revocable trust which the settlor has the capacity to revoke; or\n(2) with the approval of the Probate Division of the Superior Court.\n(b) In approving a resignation, the Probate Division of the Superior Court may issue orders and impose conditions reasonably necessary for the protection of the trust property.\n(c) Any liability of a resigning trustee or of any sureties on the trustee’s bond for acts or omissions of the trustee is not discharged or affected by the trustee’s resignation.","path":["Title 14A: Trusts","Chapter 007: Office of Trustee"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/14A/007/00705","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:16:59Z","sha256":"d2a3f80bffb4342da18d9b668ea52159196aac1c590ef9e1b1810df19b5cd1e7","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/14a-v.s.a.-704","next":"us-vt/14a-v.s.a.-706"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
