{"data":{"id":"us-vt/16-v.s.a.-570k","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"16 V.S.A. § 570k","heading":"Civil penalty; Judicial Bureau; waiver penalty","body":"(a) A person who commits an unlawful act under this subchapter shall be subject to a civil penalty of not more than $5,000.00.\n(b) Any law enforcement officer may issue a summons and complaint for an act of hazing, which shall be heard by the Judicial Bureau pursuant to the procedures provided in 4 V.S.A. chapter 29.\n(c) The Court Administrator shall appoint a panel of Judicial Bureau hearing officers to establish a waiver penalty for an act of hazing.\n(d) Nothing in this section shall limit or affect the right of an educational institution to enforce its own penalties against hazing.","path":["Title 16: Education","Chapter 009: School Districts","Subchapter 005: HARASSMENT, HAZING, AND BULLYING"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/16/009/00570k","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:17:00Z","sha256":"7839557f64a73276651d4f5b205164c966b7d48951638dc338275b050cb43596","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/16-v.s.a.-570j","next":"us-vt/16-v.s.a.-570l"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
