{"data":{"id":"us-vt/17-v.s.a.-2386","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"17 V.S.A. § 2386","heading":"Time for filing statements","body":"(a) In the case of the failure of a major political party to nominate a candidate by primary, a statement shall be filed not later than 5:00 p.m. on the sixth day following the primary.\n(b) In the case of the death or withdrawal of a candidate after the primary election, the party committee shall have seven days from the date of the death or withdrawal to nominate a candidate. In no event shall a statement be filed later than 60 days prior to the general election.\n(c)(1) In the case of a nomination by a minor political party, a statement shall be filed not earlier than the fourth Monday in April and not later than 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday preceding the primary election described in section 2351 of this chapter and not later than 5:00 p.m. on the third day prior to the day of a special primary election.\n(2) A statement shall apply only to the election cycle in which the statement is filed.\n(d) In the case of a nomination for the office of justice of the peace, a statement shall be filed as set forth in section 2413 of this chapter.","path":["Title 17: Elections","Chapter 049: Nominations","Subchapter 002: NOMINATION BY PARTY COMMITTEE"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/17/049/02386","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:17:01Z","sha256":"7179f6256d11f55443c720c68857b929380c1462915d6b31cf452a5da220a256","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/17-v.s.a.-2385","next":"us-vt/17-v.s.a.-2387"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
