{"data":{"id":"us-vt/26-v.s.a.-2672","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"26 V.S.A. § 2672","heading":"Qualifications","body":"A person shall not be licensed under this chapter, except as otherwise provided in this chapter, unless he or she has obtained a high school education or its equivalent and:\n(1) Education. Has completed:\n(A) at least a two-year course of study in a school of ophthalmic dispensing approved by the Director or a school that is a candidate for accreditation by an accreditation agency approved by the U.S. Department of Education and by the Director;\n(B) at least two years of practical training and experience, approved by the Director, under the supervision of a licensed optician, ophthalmologist, or optometrist; or\n(C) the National Academy of Opticianry Ophthalmic Career Progression Program, including at least one year of practical training and experience, approved by the Director, under the supervision of a licensed optician, ophthalmologist, or optometrist; and\n(2) Examination. Has passed an examination recognized by the Director that shall include assessment of competency in ophthalmic materials; laboratory, practical, and physiological optics; prescription interpretation; dispensing preparation; adjustment of lenses, spectacles, eyeglasses, prisms, tinted lenses, and appurtenances; the use of lensometers or equivalent instruments; adjusting instruments; and pupillary and facial measurements.","path":["Title 26: Professions and Occupations","Chapter 047: Opticians","Subchapter 003: LICENSES"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/26/047/02672","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:17:08Z","sha256":"96952afe41cd48f142a4a11a243ac971acab205ab93d985593a73af675d76339","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/26-v.s.a.-2671","next":"us-vt/26-v.s.a.-2673"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
