{"data":{"id":"us-vt/27-v.s.a.-1611","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"27 V.S.A. § 1611","heading":"Definitions; applicability","body":"(a) As used in this subchapter, “personal information” means:\n(1) information that identifies or reasonably can be used to identify an individual, such as first and last name in combination with the individual’s:\n(A) Social Security number or other government-issued number or identifier;\n(B) date of birth;\n(C) home or physical address;\n(D) electronic-mail address or other online contact information or Internet provider address;\n(E) financial account number or credit or debit card number;\n(F) biometric data, health or medical data, or insurance information; or\n(G) passwords or other credentials that permit access to an online or other account;\n(2) personally identifiable financial or insurance information, including nonpublic personal information defined by applicable federal law; and\n(3) any combination of data that, if accessed, disclosed, modified, or destroyed without authorization of the owner of the data or if lost or misused, would require notice or reporting under 9 V.S.A. chapter 62 and federal privacy and data security law, whether or not the Administrator or the Administrator’s agent is subject to the law.\n(b) A provision of this subchapter that applies to the Administrator or the Administrator’s records applies to an Administrator’s agent.","path":["Title 27: Property","Chapter 018: Unclaimed Property","Subchapter 014: CONFIDENTIALITY AND SECURITY OF INFORMATION"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/27/018/01611","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:17:08Z","sha256":"ad5959461779815df82cd0f041a26a0e29008853343dce0d116c11db014d4661","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/27-v.s.a.-1604","next":"us-vt/27-v.s.a.-1612"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
