{"data":{"id":"us-vt/31-v.s.a.-1325","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"31 V.S.A. § 1325","heading":"Crimes and penalties","body":"(a) A corporation, association, or partnership that is not permitted to conduct sports wagering pursuant to this chapter that operates, conducts, or exposes sports wagering for play or accepts a bet or wager associated with sports wagering shall:\n(1) for a first violation of this subsection, be fined not more than $50,000.00 or imprisoned not more than six months, or both;\n(2) for a second violation of this subsection, be fined not more than $150,000.00 or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and\n(3) for a third or subsequent violation of this subsection, be fined not more than $300,000.00 or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.\n(b) An operator who violates a provision of this chapter shall be fined:\n(1) for a first violation, not more than $25,000.00;\n(2) for a second violation, not more than $75,000.00; and\n(3) for a third violation, not more than $150,000.00.\n(c) Upon the violation of a provision of this chapter by an operator, the Department may terminate its contract with the operator and revoke the operator’s privilege to offer sports wagering within the State.","path":["Title 31: Recreation and Sports","Chapter 025: Sports Wagering","Subchapter 002: SPORTS WAGERING OPERATORS"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/31/025/01325","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:17:10Z","sha256":"3e8865f44f201975c4aa5fd3f498aeefe28d1ec387e67ba2e210eee177755286","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/31-v.s.a.-1324","next":"us-vt/31-v.s.a.-1330"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
