{"data":{"id":"us-vt/4-v.s.a.-962","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"4 V.S.A. § 962","heading":"Qualifications; excuse from service","body":"(a) A person shall be qualified for jury service if the person:\n(1) is a citizen of the United States who has attained the age of majority;\n(2) resides within the geographical jurisdiction of the court in which called to serve;\n(3) is able to read, write, understand, and speak the English language;\n(4) is capable, by reason of mental or physical condition, to render satisfactory jury service; and\n(5) has not served a term of imprisonment in this State after conviction of a felony.\n(b) No person shall be automatically excused from jury service; however, the presiding judge may excuse a person for all or part of the two-year period upon individual request showing undue hardship on the prospective juror or the employer.","path":["Title 4: Judiciary","Chapter 025: Jury Commission"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/04/025/00962","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T12:27:51Z","sha256":"8bc90f243f610fa3112cbe9b76a369dc80050460e12069ad82fd1f4799399cea","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/4-v.s.a.-961","next":"us-vt/4-v.s.a.-963"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
