{"data":{"id":"us-vt/8-v.s.a.-11201","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"8 V.S.A. § 11201","heading":"Business days","body":"(a)(1) For purposes of this title, unless otherwise provided under other state or federal law applicable to a Vermont or state financial institution that is a depository institution, a business day is a calendar day other than the following:\n(A) Saturday and Sunday;\n(B) New Year’s Day, January 1;\n(C) Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday, the third Monday in January;\n(D) Presidents’ Day, the third Monday in February;\n(E) Town Meeting Day, the first Tuesday in March;\n(F) Memorial Day, the last Monday in May;\n(G) Independence Day, July 4;\n(H) Bennington Battle Day, August 16;\n(I) Labor Day, the first Monday in September;\n(J) Indigenous Peoples’ Day, the second Monday in October;\n(K) Veterans’ Day, November 11;\n(L) Thanksgiving Day, the fourth Thursday in November;\n(M) Christmas Day, December 25.\n(2) A legal holiday that falls on a Saturday may be observed on the preceding Friday, and a legal holiday that falls on a Sunday may be observed on the following Monday.\n(b) A Vermont financial institution may choose to remain open or to close any of its banking offices on any of the days enumerated in subsection (a) of this section.","path":["Title 8: Banking and Insurance","Chapter 201: Supervision; Definitions","Subchapter 002: BUSINESS DAYS AND EMERGENCIES"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/08/201/11201","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T14:03:51Z","sha256":"a2aac80604508af11c6776c099098d5c7e21a8cb19ad3a5834e3aef4240f450e","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/8-v.s.a.-11101","next":"us-vt/8-v.s.a.-11202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
