{"data":{"id":"us-vt/9-v.s.a.-3890","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"9 V.S.A. § 3890","heading":"Penalties","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, a person who violates a provision of this chapter shall be assessed a civil penalty of not more than $1,000.00.\n(b) A person who operates as a precious metal dealer without the certification required by section 3882 of this title shall be:\n(1) for a first offense, imprisoned for not more than six months or fined not more than $10,000.00, or both;\n(2) for a second or subsequent offense, imprisoned not more than three years or fined not more than $50,000.00, or both.\n(c) A person who violates a provision of sections 3885-3888 of this title shall be:\n(1) for a first offense, imprisoned for not more than six months or fined not more than $10,000.00, or both;\n(2) for a second or subsequent offense, imprisoned not more than three years or fined not more than $50,000.00, or both.\n(d) The Attorney General or a State’s Attorney shall have the authority to pursue an injunction to prohibit the conduct of a person in violation of this chapter.\n(e) For purposes of this section, each transaction in which a person violates a provision of this chapter shall constitute a single violation, regardless of the number of violations of this chapter that occur in the transaction.","path":["Title 9: Commerce and Trade","Chapter 097A: Precious Metal Dealers"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/09/097A/03890","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T14:35:21Z","sha256":"2633d46720c4030fc9edde3c52ddf53749feb48ed964f2a9196458579dabaf52","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/9-v.s.a.-3889","next":"us-vt/9-v.s.a.-3901"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
