{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-15.60.005","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 15.60.005","heading":"Definitions.","body":"Unless the context clearly requires otherwise, the definitions in this section apply throughout this chapter:\n(1) \"Department\" means the department of agriculture of the state of Washington.\n(2) \"Director\" means the director of the state department of agriculture or the director's authorized representative.\n(3) \"Apiary\" means a site where hives of bees or hives are kept or found.\n(4) \"Apiarist\" means any person who owns bees or is a keeper of bees in Washington.\n(5) \"Bees\" means adult insects, eggs, larvae, pupae, or other immature stages of the species Apis mellifera.\n(6) \"Colony\" refers to a natural group of bees having a queen or queens.\n(7) \"Hive\" means a manufactured receptacle or container prepared for the use of bees, that includes movable frames, combs, and substances deposited into the hive by bees.\n(8) \"Person\" means a natural person, individual, firm, partnership, company, society, association, corporation or every officer, agent, or employee of one of these entities.\n(9) \"Broker\" means a person who is engaged in pollinating agricultural crops for a fee using hives that are owned by another person.","path":["Title 15","Chapter 15.60"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=15.60.005","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:07:26Z","sha256":"5cfc9be7b96b50f402e29e0376b277720799e3a477b487a8d6553cf9724e8cf1","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-15.58.920","next":"us-wa/rcw-15.60.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
