{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-16.52.095","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 16.52.095","heading":"Certain veterinary procedures—Misdemeanor.","body":"(1) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, it is a misdemeanor:\n(a) For any person to cut off more than one-half of the ear or ears of any domestic animal such as an ox, cow, bull, calf, sheep, goat, or hog; or\n(b) For any person to:\n(i) Devocalize a dog;\n(ii) Crop or cut off any part of the ear of a dog; or\n(iii) Crop or cut off any part of the tail of a dog that is seven days old or older, or has opened its eyes, whichever occurs sooner.\n(2) This section does not apply if the person performing the procedure is a licensed veterinarian utilizing accepted veterinary surgical protocols that may include local anesthesia, general anesthesia, or perioperative pain management.","path":["Title 16","Chapter 16.52"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=16.52.095","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:12:58Z","sha256":"61c13a770b0e3d5a14fbc9835df37410f5247aa2715885392bdbe05672f3890f","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-16.52.090","next":"us-wa/rcw-16.52.100"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
