{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-18.227.050","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 18.227.050","heading":"Authority of secretary.","body":"In addition to any other authority provided by law, the secretary has the authority to:\n(1) Adopt rules under chapter 34.05 RCW necessary to implement this chapter. Any rules adopted shall be in consultation with the University of Washington;\n(2) Establish all certification, examination, and renewal fees in accordance with RCW 43.70.250;\n(3) Establish forms and procedures necessary to administer this chapter;\n(4) Issue certifications to applicants who have met the education, which may include registered apprenticeships, practicum, and examination requirements for certification and to deny a certification to applicants who do not meet the requirements;\n(5) Develop, administer, and supervise the grading and taking of an examination for applicants for certification;\n(6) Adopt rules requiring completion of 20 hours of continuing education every two years after initial certification for certification renewal;\n(7) Maintain the official record of all applicants and certification holders; and\n(8) Establish by rule the procedures for an appeal of an examination failure.","path":["Title 18","Chapter 18.227"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=18.227.050","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:22:35Z","sha256":"7f5fdacf78753fbde84e024e39a9a7eedd834e0e12d83d9f6b1fbf4a35dc3d2f","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-18.227.040","next":"us-wa/rcw-18.227.060"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
