{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-18.39.231","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 18.39.231","heading":"Prohibited advice and transactions—Exceptions—Rules—Penalty.","body":"(1) A licensee shall not, in conjunction with any professional services performed for compensation under this chapter, provide financial or investment advice to any person other than a family member, represent any person in a real estate transaction, or act as an agent under a power of attorney for any person. However, this section shall not be deemed to prohibit a funeral establishment from entering into prearrangement funeral service contracts in accordance with this chapter or to prohibit a funeral director from providing advice about government or insurance benefits.\n(2) A violation of this section is a gross misdemeanor and is grounds for disciplinary action.\n(3) The board shall adopt rules as the board deems necessary to prevent unethical financial dealings between licensees and their clients.","path":["Title 18","Chapter 18.39"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=18.39.231","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:16:41Z","sha256":"fa3e49dc49f4ef8869e5014e05c216da2f6097e60c900288c121f6345c96ef7a","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-18.39.220","next":"us-wa/rcw-18.39.240"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
