{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-18.71.097","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 18.71.097","heading":"Provisional emergency services provider certification—Eligibility.","body":"(1) Emergency medical services providers who are currently licensed or certified in another state or who hold a current certification from a national certifying agency approved by the department [of health] are eligible for a Washington provisional emergency services provider certification.\n(2) To be eligible for a Washington provisional emergency services provider certification, the applicant shall:\n(a) Be currently licensed or certified in another state and be in good standing with the emergency medical services board of that state or hold a current emergency medical services provider certification from a national certifying agency approved by the department [of health];\n(b) Be employed or have a valid employment offer from a Washington emergency medical services agency; and\n(c) Be approved for a provisional status from the county medical program director in which the applicant is or will be employed.\n(3) If the employer or host agency has:\n(a) Fewer than 25 employees holding a current emergency medical technician or paramedic certification or license, up to 20 percent of those employees, rounded to the next whole number, may practice under a provisional certification; or\n(b) Twenty-five or more employees holding a current emergency medical technician or paramedic certification or license, up to 10 percent of those employees, rounded to the next whole number, may practice under a provisional certification.","path":["Title 18","Chapter 18.71"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=18.71.097","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:18:14Z","sha256":"69aa565e56f27280c11c7f623a3fae81e23c541ac2ca0e18c768eb72b5b41ab8","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-18.71.095","next":"us-wa/rcw-18.71.100"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
