{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-18.84.190","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 18.84.190","heading":"Licensed practitioner supervision—Exceptions.","body":"(1) A licensed practitioner may supervise a diagnostic radiologic technologist, therapeutic radiologic technologist, and a magnetic resonance imaging technologist to the extent authorized by the licensed practitioner's authorized scope of practice, except as provided in this section.\n(2) A diagnostic radiologic technologist, therapeutic radiologic technologist, and a magnetic resonance imaging technologist may perform parenteral procedures related to radiologic technology when performed under the direct supervision of a physician licensed under chapter 18.71, 18.71B, or 18.57 RCW, with the exception of intravenous contrast procedures, which may be performed:\n(a) Under virtual direct supervision of a physician licensed under chapter 18.71, 18.71B, or 18.57 RCW through real-time interactive audio and video technology, excluding audio-only technology; or\n(b) Under the direct supervision of a physician licensed under chapter 18.71, 18.71B, or 18.57 RCW, an advanced practice registered nurse licensed under chapter 18.79 RCW, or a physician assistant licensed under chapter 18.71A or 18.71C RCW.\n(3) Before a diagnostic radiologic technologist, therapeutic radiologic technologist, or a magnetic resonance imaging technologist may administer intravenous contrast agents, clinical staff with requisite training and qualifications to respond to an adverse event must be present at the facility to provide on-site patient care as needed.","path":["Title 18","Chapter 18.84"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=18.84.190","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:19:19Z","sha256":"2f6fdbb2f6a6822d2b935910ef0a8c01869492db6d99234322c7be982ac695b7","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-18.84.180","next":"us-wa/rcw-18.84.800"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
