(Effective until June 30, 2027.)","body":"Unless the context clearly requires otherwise, the definitions in this section apply throughout this chapter.\n(1) \"Department\" means the department of health.\n(2) \"Direct supervision\" means a health care practitioner is continuously on-site and physically present in the treatment operatory while the procedures are performed by the respiratory care practitioner.\n(3) \"Health care practitioner\" means:\n(a) A physician licensed under chapter 18.71 RCW;\n(b) An osteopathic physician or surgeon licensed under chapter 18.57 RCW; or\n(c) Acting within the scope of their respective licensure, a podiatric physician and surgeon licensed under chapter 18.22 RCW, an *advanced registered nurse practitioner licensed under chapter 18.79 RCW, a naturopath licensed under chapter 18.36A RCW, or a physician assistant licensed under chapter 18.71A RCW.\n(4) \"Respiratory care practitioner\" means an individual licensed under this chapter.\n(5) \"Secretary\" means the secretary of health or the secretary's designee.","path":["Title 18","Chapter 18.89"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=18.89.020","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:19:47Z","sha256":"0aa7f7a235e6f925ee8d23fabaec59d06c867260529f9f77e5bd5da264936b22","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-18.89.015","next":"us-wa/rcw-18.89.030"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
