{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-18.96.220","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 18.96.220","heading":"Application—Professions and activities not affected.","body":"This chapter does not affect or prevent:\n(1) The practice of architecture, land surveying, engineering, geology, or any recognized profession by persons not licensed as landscape architects;\n(2) Drafters, clerks, project managers, superintendents, and other employees of landscape architects from acting under the instructions, control, or supervision of their employers;\n(3) The construction, alteration, or supervision of sites by contractors or superintendents employed by contractors or the preparation of shop drawings in connection therewith;\n(4) Owners or contractors under chapter 18.27 RCW from engaging persons who are not landscape architects to observe and supervise site construction of a project;\n(5) Qualified professional biologists as referenced in chapter 36.70 RCW from providing services for natural site areas that also fall within the definition of the practice of landscape architecture without a violation of this chapter;\n(6) The preparation of construction documents including planting plans, landscape materials, or other horticulture-related elements;\n(7) Individuals from making plans, drawings, or specifications for any property owned by them and for their own personal use;\n(8) The design of irrigation systems; and\n(9) Landscape design on residential properties.","path":["Title 18","Chapter 18.96"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=18.96.220","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:20:03Z","sha256":"6c1b6d7d73455e23bab70c5ebde53984367add3cd795a35fb3cafc395cd317e1","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-18.96.200","next":"us-wa/rcw-18.96.230"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
