{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-26.14.020","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 26.14.020","heading":"Scope.","body":"(1) This chapter governs arbitration of a family law dispute.\n(2) This chapter does not authorize an arbitrator to make an award that:\n(a) Grants a legal separation or dissolution of marriage or domestic partnership, or annulment;\n(b) Terminates parental rights;\n(c) Grants an adoption or a guardianship of a child or incapacitated individual; or\n(d) Determines the status of dependency.\n(3) This chapter does not apply to:\n(a) Any arbitration governed by chapter 7.06 RCW;\n(b) Proceedings under Title 13 RCW;\n(c) Jurisdictional determinations under chapter 26.27 RCW;\n(d) Proceedings under RCW 26.26A.465;\n(e) Writs of habeas corpus;\n(f) Disputes as to personal or subject matter jurisdiction;\n(g) Determination of venue;\n(h) Issuance, modification, or termination of protection orders under chapter 7.105 RCW; and\n(i) Delegation of the court's authority to permanently modify a parenting plan based on a finding of substantial change in circumstances.","path":["Title 26","Chapter 26.14"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=26.14.020","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:41:06Z","sha256":"87168bc9b2bbadb96074f552830542d595bed1e5a560b920080bd36905380950","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-26.14.010","next":"us-wa/rcw-26.14.030"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
