{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-26.21a.115","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 26.21A.115","heading":"Simultaneous proceedings.","body":"(1) A tribunal of this state may exercise jurisdiction to establish a support order if the petition or comparable pleading is filed after a pleading is filed in another state or a foreign country only if:\n(a) The petition or comparable pleading in this state is filed before the expiration of the time allowed in the other state or the foreign country for filing a responsive pleading challenging the exercise of jurisdiction by the other state or the foreign country;\n(b) The contesting party timely challenges the exercise of jurisdiction in the other state or the foreign country; and\n(c) If relevant, this state is the home state of the child.\n(2) A tribunal of this state may not exercise jurisdiction to establish a support order if the petition or comparable pleading is filed before a petition or comparable pleading is filed in another state or a foreign country if:\n(a) The petition or comparable pleading in the other state or foreign country is filed before the expiration of the time allowed in this state for filing a responsive pleading challenging the exercise of jurisdiction by this state;\n(b) The contesting party timely challenges the exercise of jurisdiction in this state; and\n(c) If relevant, the other state or foreign country is the home state of the child.","path":["Title 26","Chapter 26.21A"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=26.21A.115","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T00:42:38Z","sha256":"260731d4a1761fcb3386c9574245cf62a026569223836e0e463f28944d9f5e40","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-26.21a.110","next":"us-wa/rcw-26.21a.120"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
