{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-26.27.211","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 26.27.211","heading":"Exclusive, continuing jurisdiction.","body":"(1) Except as otherwise provided in RCW 26.27.231, a court of this state that has made a child custody determination consistent with RCW 26.27.201 or 26.27.221 has exclusive, continuing jurisdiction over the determination until:\n(a) A court of this state determines that neither the child, the child's parents, and any person acting as a parent do not have a significant connection with this state and that substantial evidence is no longer available in this state concerning the child's care, protection, training, and personal relationships; or\n(b) A court of this state or a court of another state determines that the child, the child's parents, and any person acting as a parent do not presently reside in this state.\n(2) A court of this state that has made a child custody determination and does not have exclusive, continuing jurisdiction under this section may modify that determination only if it has jurisdiction to make an initial determination under RCW 26.27.201.","path":["Title 26","Chapter 26.27"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=26.27.211","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:41:38Z","sha256":"8e804b7c4427041ca217d52b03e4ae8cdf560eebcc7b429432706ad33431fe05","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-26.27.201","next":"us-wa/rcw-26.27.221"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
