{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-28a.413.040","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 28A.413.040","heading":"Minimum employment requirements.","body":"(1)(a) A person working as a paraeducator for a school district before or during the 2017-18 school year must meet the requirements of subsection (2) of this section by the date of hire for the 2019-20 school year or any subsequent school year.\n(b) A person who has not previously worked as a paraeducator for a school district must meet the requirements of subsection (2) of this section by the date of hire for the 2018-19 school year or any subsequent school year.\n(2) The minimum employment requirements for paraeducators are as provided in this subsection. A paraeducator must:\n(a) Be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; and\n(b) Meet one of the following requirements:\n(i) Have received a passing score on one of the assessments approved by the board;\n(ii) Hold an associate of arts degree;\n(iii) Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at an institution of higher education; or\n(iv) Have completed a registered apprenticeship program.","path":["Title 28A","Chapter 28A.413"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=28A.413.040","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:47:25Z","sha256":"e5603f54e18e736a938f52d33de948b79a1ae0b34877fea4ee00f0fd28885a6f","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-28a.413.030","next":"us-wa/rcw-28a.413.045"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
