{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-28b.10.019","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 28B.10.019","heading":"Electronic signatures.","body":"(1) Institutions of higher education and state higher education agencies may use or accept secure electronic signatures for any human resource, benefits, or payroll processes that require a signature. Such signatures are valid and enforceable.\n(2) The definitions in this subsection apply throughout this section.\n(a) \"Electronic signature\" means an electronic sound, symbol, or process, attached to, or logically associated with, a contract or other record and executed or adopted by a person with the intent to sign the record.\n(b) \"Secure electronic signature\" means an electronic signature that:\n(i) Is unique to the person making the signature;\n(ii) Uses a technology or process to make the signature that is under the sole control of the person making the signature;\n(iii) Uses a technology or process that can identify the person using the technology or process; and\n(iv) Can be linked with an electronic record in such a way that it can be used to determine whether the electronic record has been changed since the electronic signature was incorporated in, attached to, or associated with the electronic record.","path":["Title 28B","Chapter 28B.10"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=28B.10.019","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T01:51:42Z","sha256":"7133ffb131ddeadc09767f84e4b57d6310c785c97853459cbe927744f5f886a0","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-28b.10.017","next":"us-wa/rcw-28b.10.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
