{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-36.70a.819","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 36.70A.819","heading":"Affordable housing unit size.","body":"(1) Cities and counties planning under RCW 36.70A.040 may not require affordable housing units for low-income or very low-income households, regardless of the unit mix and size of the project, to exceed the following sizes:\n(a) 400 square feet for a studio unit;\n(b) 550 square feet for a one-bedroom unit;\n(c) 750 square feet for a two-bedroom unit; and\n(d) 1,000 square feet for a three-bedroom unit.\n(2) If the average unit size in the project is smaller than the size requirements in this section, the city must allow the affordable housing units to be of a comparable size as the market rate units.\n(3) Co-living housing units are subject to the provisions of RCW 36.70A.535.\n(4) This section does not apply to low-income housing developed under an affordable housing incentive program as provided in RCW 36.70A.540.","path":["Title 36","Chapter 36.70A"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=36.70A.819","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:31:23Z","sha256":"a20b4f78f208b753e731b8aaed2007862a61c528ced649638ee0a0bb7002a8b0","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-36.70a.817","next":"us-wa/rcw-36.70a.820"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
