{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-43.103.010","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 43.103.010","heading":"Purposes.","body":"The purposes of chapter 16, Laws of 1983 1st ex. sess. are declared by the legislature to be as follows:\n(1) To preserve and enhance the state crime laboratory and state toxicology laboratory, which are essential parts of the criminal justice and death investigation systems in the state of Washington;\n(2) To fund the death investigation system and to make related state and local institutions more efficient;\n(3) To provide resources necessary for the performance, by qualified pathologists, of autopsies which are also essential to the criminal justice and death investigation systems of this state and its counties;\n(4) To improve the performance of death investigations and the criminal justice system through the formal training of county coroners and county medical examiners;\n(5) To establish and maintain a dental identification system; and\n(6) To provide flexibility so that any county may establish a county morgue when it serves the public interest.","path":["Title 43","Chapter 43.103"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=43.103.010","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:54:56Z","sha256":"d6aadb2c7abcf2973b13765b811aa07cfb0a13536fc59cf202e187dcbd9a9adb","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-43.102.140","next":"us-wa/rcw-43.103.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
