{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-43.167.020","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 43.167.020","heading":"Powers of authorities—Limitations.","body":"(1) A community preservation and development authority shall have the power to:\n(a) Accept gifts, grants, loans, or other aid from public or private entities;\n(b) Employ and appoint such agents, attorneys, officers, and employees as may be necessary to implement the purposes and duties of an authority;\n(c) Contract and enter into partnerships with individuals, associations, corporations, and local, state, and federal governments;\n(d) Buy, own, lease, and sell real and personal property;\n(e) Hold in trust, improve, and develop land;\n(f) Invest, deposit, and reinvest its funds;\n(g) Incur debt in furtherance of its mission; and\n(h) Lend its funds, property, credit, or services for corporate purposes.\n(2) A community preservation and development authority has no power of eminent domain nor any power to levy taxes or special assessments.\n(3) A community preservation and development authority that accepts public funds under subsection (1)(a) of this section:\n(a) Is subject in all respects to Article VIII, section 5 or 7, as appropriate, of the state Constitution, and to RCW 29B.40.250; and\n(b) May not use the funds to support or oppose a candidate, ballot proposition, political party, or political committee.","path":["Title 43","Chapter 43.167"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=43.167.020","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:57:06Z","sha256":"936cc5bb6a3e93c67f9e3011ba14ada5dae1d784642919c0d8247ecdf8b9bb3f","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-43.167.010","next":"us-wa/rcw-43.167.030"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
