{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-43.18b.010","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 43.18B.010","heading":"Definitions.","body":"(1) \"Language accessible\" means the delivery of oral, audio, written, tactile, or visual communication in an individual's primary language, including signed languages. This includes all modalities of communication including in-person, telephone, virtual, recorded, paper, and digital communications.\n(2) \"Linguistic characteristics\" means an individual's language, dialect, language proficiency, or accent.\n(3) \"Non-English language preferred\" means that an individual, whether or not they possess some degree of English proficiency, has indicated a preference to receive information, services, and communications in a language other than English.\n(4) \"Office\" means the office of equity created in RCW 43.06D.020.\n(5) \"Primary language\" means the language used most frequently by a person to communicate, including sign language or tactile sign language.\n(6) \"Public programs, activities, and services\" means all programs, activities, and services conducted, operated, or administered by a state agency or receiving any financial assistance from a state agency.\n(7) \"State agency\" means every state executive office, agency, department, board, council, or commission.","path":["Title 43","Chapter 43.18B"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=43.18B.010","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T02:47:24Z","sha256":"45bf12a290d348a0c75cdabb2a8af79b586cdb572158b5e3432c8637b93ff39b","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-43.18b.005","next":"us-wa/rcw-43.18b.015"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
