{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-46.68.425","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 46.68.425","heading":"Special license plate fees by plate type—Disposition.","body":"(1) The department shall:\n(a) Collect special license plate fees established under RCW 46.17.220;\n(b) Deduct an amount not to exceed $12 for initial issue and $2 for renewal issue for administration and collection expenses incurred by it; and\n(c) Remit the remaining proceeds to the custody of the state treasurer with a proper identifying detailed report.\n(2) The state treasurer shall credit the proceeds to the motor vehicle fund until the department determines that the state has been reimbursed for the cost of implementing the special license plate. Upon determination by the department that the state has been reimbursed, the state treasurer shall credit the remaining special license plate fees to the following accounts by special license plate type:\nSPECIAL LICENSE PLATE TYPE\nACCOUNT\nCONDITIONS FOR USE OF FUNDS\nArmed forces\nRCW 43.60A.140\nAs specified in RCW 43.60A.140(4)\nBreast cancer awareness\nRCW 43.70.327\nMust be used only by the department of health for efforts consistent with the breast, cervical, and colon health program\nEndangered wildlife\nRCW 77.12.170\nMust be used only for the department of fish and wildlife's endangered wildlife program activities\nHistorical throwback\nRCW 46.68.060\nProvides funds for expanding and improving driver's education programs and activities\nKeep kids safe\nRCW 43.121.100\nAs specified in RCW 43.121.100\nKeep Washington evergreen\nRCW 82.44.200\nSupport of electric charging stations throughout Washington\nPurple Heart\nRCW 43.60A.140\nAs specified in RCW 43.60A.140(4)\nSmokey Bear wildfire prevention\nRCW 76.04.511\nOnly for the department of natural resources to use for wildfire prevention programs\nUnited States Naval Academy\nRCW 43.60A.140\nAs specified in RCW 43.60A.140(4)\nWashington state parks\nRCW 79A.05.059\nProvide public educational opportunities and enhancement of Washington state parks\nWashington's fish collection\nRCW 77.12.170\nOnly for the department of fish and wildlife's use to support steelhead species management activities including, but not limited to, activities supporting conservation, recovery, and research to promote healthy, fishable steelhead\nWashington's wildlife collection\nRCW 77.12.170\nOnly for the department of fish and wildlife's game species management activities\nWild on Washington\nRCW 77.12.170\nDedicated to the department of fish and wildlife's watchable wildlife activities, as defined in RCW 77.32.560","path":["Title 46","Chapter 46.68"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.68.425","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T03:05:35Z","sha256":"52fe2a3d74c791049f107a811b1c6b2e68a4b20af4c78935fe29b30e0e74a503","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-46.68.420","next":"us-wa/rcw-46.68.430"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
