The legislature further finds that captive insurance promotes prudent risk management and provides access to insurance and reinsurance markets that may not be available to these Washington entities otherwise. The legislature believes that encouraging the use of captive insurance will support those who rely upon the strength and stability of employers in this state.\nThe legislature does not intend by chapter 281, Laws of 2021 to make Washington a captive domicile state. Rather, the legislature is establishing a framework for registration by captive insurers that insure Washington-based entities and are licensed by the jurisdictions in which they are domiciled.","path":["Title 48","Chapter 48.201"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=48.201.010","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T03:19:29Z","sha256":"661cb17de944f75c9d1dcbbe66e0f96905b72c262d44df5805e33722ddf6dfcb","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-48.200.901","next":"us-wa/rcw-48.201.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
