{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-7.04a.060","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 7.04A.060","heading":"Validity of agreement to arbitrate.","body":"(1) An agreement contained in a record to submit to arbitration any existing or subsequent controversy arising between the parties to the agreement is valid, enforceable, and irrevocable except upon a ground that exists at law or in equity for the revocation of contract.\n(2) The court shall decide whether an agreement to arbitrate exists or a controversy is subject to an agreement to arbitrate.\n(3) An arbitrator shall decide whether a condition precedent to arbitrability has been fulfilled and whether a contract containing a valid agreement to arbitrate is enforceable.\n(4) If a party to a judicial proceeding challenges the existence of, or claims that a controversy is not subject to, an agreement to arbitrate, the arbitration proceeding may continue pending final resolution of the issue by the court, unless the court otherwise orders.","path":["Title 7","Chapter 7.04A"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=7.04A.060","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T00:37:00Z","sha256":"d51af02f6794b5756cba0b3233b886917de41db3a1a35abac3be5dfc389acb86","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-7.04a.050","next":"us-wa/rcw-7.04a.070"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
