{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-7.120.040","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 7.120.040","heading":"Use of forfeited property.","body":"When property is forfeited under this chapter, the seizing agency may:\n(1) Retain it for official use or upon application by any law enforcement agency of this state release such property to such agency to be used in enforcement;\n(2) Sell that which is not required to be destroyed by law and which is not harmful to the public;\n(3) Request the appropriate sheriff or director of public safety to take custody of the property and remove it for disposition in accordance with law;\n(4) Forward it to an appropriate entity, such as the drug enforcement administration, for disposition;\n(5) Satisfy any known court-ordered restitution owed by the person from whom the property was forfeited; or\n(6) Take any other action allowed by statute.","path":["Title 7","Chapter 7.120"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=7.120.040","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T00:40:14Z","sha256":"a783dd0ace331648b6db065d7cc2f7a7ac8f46b5383c81d76411fce0b9b09e45","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-7.120.030","next":"us-wa/rcw-7.120.050"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
