{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-70.255.030","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 70.255.030","heading":"Civil penalty—Jurisdiction.","body":"(1) The authority having jurisdiction may impose a civil penalty for a violation of this chapter. The civil penalty may not exceed:\n(a) For a wholesale dealer that distributes or offers to sell novelty lighters to retail dealers or consumers, a written warning for the first violation and a monetary penalty of five hundred dollars for each subsequent violation.\n(b) For a retail dealer that distributes or offers to sell novelty lighters to consumers, a written warning for the first violation and a monetary penalty of two hundred fifty dollars for each subsequent violation.\n(2) The authority having jurisdiction may bring an action seeking:\n(a) Injunctive relief to prevent or end a violation of this chapter;\n(b) To recover civil penalties imposed under subsection (1) of this section; or\n(c) To recover attorneys' fees and other enforcement costs and disbursements.\n(3) Penalties under this section must be deposited in an account designated by the authority having jurisdiction.\n(4) A district court has jurisdiction over all proceedings brought under this section.","path":["Title 70","Chapter 70.255"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=70.255.030","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T03:55:10Z","sha256":"01d9b1dceb241f2ff0751b9748d76f996f9b14643158eedf45e1b9f070ece350","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-70.255.020","next":"us-wa/rcw-70.255.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
