{"data":{"id":"us-wa/rcw-71.36.005","jurisdiction":"us-wa","citation":"RCW 71.36.005","heading":"Intent.","body":"The legislature intends to substantially improve the delivery of children's mental health services in Washington state through the development and implementation of a children's mental health system that:\n(1) Values early identification, intervention, and prevention;\n(2) Coordinates existing categorical children's mental health programs and funding, through efforts that include elimination of duplicative care plans and case management;\n(3) Treats each child in the context of his or her family, and provides services and supports needed to maintain a child with his or her family and community;\n(4) Integrates families into treatment through choice of treatment, participation in treatment, and provision of peer support;\n(5) Focuses on resiliency and recovery;\n(6) Relies to a greater extent on evidence-based practices;\n(7) Is sensitive to the unique cultural circumstances of children of color and children in families whose primary language is not English;\n(8) Integrates educational support services that address students' diverse learning styles; and\n(9) To the greatest extent possible, blends categorical funding to offer more service and support options to each child.","path":["Title 71","Chapter 71.36"],"source_url":"https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=71.36.005","current_through":"July 15, 2026","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-06T04:05:14Z","sha256":"1e96d6b435c157c517c5c1540b34f836ede5874b0c242bf49ba041f7501b220d","source_id":"us-wa","stale":false,"prev":"us-wa/rcw-71.34.918","next":"us-wa/rcw-71.36.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
