Stat. § 14-2-308","heading":"Definitions.","body":"(a) As used in this act:\n(i) \"Abuse\" means as defined by W.S. 14-3-202(a)(ii);\n(ii) \"Authorized agency\" means:\n(A) A public social service agency authorized to care for and place children; or\n(B) A private child welfare agency certified by the state for such purposes pursuant to W.S. 1-22-101 through 1-22-114, 14-4-101 through 14-4-117 or 14-6-201 through 14-6-243;\n(iii) \"Child\" or \"minor\" means an individual who is under the age of majority;\n(iv) \"Court\" means the district court in the district where the child resides or is found or the district court which has previously retained jurisdiction of the child because of a previous order entered by that court;\n(v) \"Mental health professional\" means a person with an advanced degree in one of the behavioral sciences including a psychologist, social worker or clinical counselor;\n(vi) \"Neglect\" means as defined by W.S. 14-3-202(a)(vii);\n(vii) \"Parent\" means a natural parent or a parent by adoption;\n(viii) \"Indigent party\" means a person whose financial resources and income are insufficient to enable him to pay the reasonable fees and expenses of an attorney licensed to practice in this state;\n(ix) \"This act\" means W.S. 14-2-308 through 14-2-319.","path":["TITLE 14 - CHILDREN","CHAPTER 2 - PARENTS","ARTICLE 3 - TERMINATION OF PARENTAL RIGHTS"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title14.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:32Z","sha256":"1625c6818057ab1372fe071836868e819eaaa1659073d59e2b6b69410e6eb8aa","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-14-2-307","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-14-2-309"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
