Stat. § 20-4-145","heading":"Simultaneous proceedings.","body":"(a) A tribunal of this state may exercise jurisdiction to establish a support order if the petition or comparable pleading is filed after a pleading is filed in another state or a foreign country only if:\n(i) The petition or comparable pleading in this state is filed before the expiration of the time allowed in the other state or the foreign country for filing a responsive pleading challenging the exercise of jurisdiction by the other state or the foreign country;\n(ii) The contesting party timely challenges the exercise of jurisdiction in the other state or the foreign country; and\n(iii) If relevant, this state is the home state of the child.\n(b) A tribunal of this state may not exercise jurisdiction to establish a support order if the petition or comparable pleading is filed before a petition or comparable pleading is filed in another state or a foreign country if:\n(i) The petition or comparable pleading in the other state or foreign country is filed before the expiration of the time allowed in this state for filing a responsive pleading challenging the exercise of jurisdiction by this state;\n(ii) The contesting party timely challenges the exercise of jurisdiction in this state;\n(iii) If relevant, the other state or foreign country is the home state of the child.","path":["TITLE 20 - DOMESTIC RELATIONS","CHAPTER 4 - UNIFORM INTERSTATE FAMILY SUPPORT ACT","ARTICLE 1 - GENERAL PROVISIONS"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title20.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:32Z","sha256":"291f461ab3522908d450e4b5eeca38684a7f8dbbdd46cec8c2eadad8489374c4","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-20-4-144","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-20-4-146"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
