Stat. § 21-4-309","heading":"Mandatory immunizations for children attending schools; exceptions.","body":"(a)  Any person attending, full or part time, any public or\nprivate school, kindergarten through twelfth grade, shall within\nthirty (30) days after the date of school entry, provide to the\nappropriate school official written documentary proof of\nimmunization.  For purposes of this section, documentary proof\nof immunization is written certification by a private licensed\nphysician or his representative or by any public health\nauthority, that the person is fully immunized.  Documentation\nshall include month, day and year of each required immunization\nreceived against vaccine preventable disease as designated by\nthe state health authority.   No school administrator shall\npermit a student to attend school for more than thirty (30)\ncalendar days without documentary proof of immunization.  If\nimmunization requires a series of immunizations over a period of\nmore than thirty (30) calendar days, the child shall be\npermitted to attend school while receiving continuing\nimmunization if the school administrator receives written\nnotification by a private licensed physician or his\nrepresentative or by a public health official, specifying a\nwritten schedule for necessary immunization completion within\nthe medically accepted time period.  Waivers shall be authorized\nby the state or county health officer upon submission of written\nevidence of religious objection or medical contraindication to\nthe administration of any vaccine.  In the presence of an\noutbreak of vaccine preventable disease as determined by the\nstate or county health authority, school children for whom a\nwaiver has been issued and who are not immunized against the\noccurring vaccine preventable disease shall be excluded from\nschool attendance for a period of time determined by the state\nor county health authority, but not suspended from school as\nprovided in W.S. 21-4-305.  Children excluded from school\nattendance under this section shall not be counted in the\naggregate number of pupils absent as defined in W.S.\n21-13-101(a)(i).\n(b) The school administrator shall be responsible for an audit of the immunization status of any child enrolled in the school in accordance with rules and regulations prescribed by the department of health.\n(c) The written documented proof of immunization on a form provided by the state health officer shall be an integral part of the child's school record.\n(d) For purposes of this section:\n(i) \"State health officer\" means the person appointed by the governor pursuant to W.S. 9-2-103(e);\n(ii) \"County health officer\" means the licensed medical officer designated by the county commissioners to serve as health officer for his county;\n(iii) \"Immunized\" or \"immunization\" means initial immunization and any boosters or reimmunizations required to maintain immunization pursuant to the immunization standards and recommendations issued by the state health officer.","path":["TITLE 21 - EDUCATION","CHAPTER 4 - PUPILS","ARTICLE 3 - RIGHT TO ATTEND SCHOOL"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title21.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:32Z","sha256":"6dfd54e58123b8539f5d65c653c39fd349919424996312ba0d822a0edafee64b","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-21-4-308","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-21-4-310"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
