Stat. § 3-2-202","heading":"Powers of the guardian subject to approval of the court.","body":"(a) Upon order of the court, after notice and hearing and appointment of a guardian ad litem, the guardian may:\n(i) Commit the ward to a mental health hospital or other mental health facility;\n(ii) Consent to the following treatments for the ward:\n(A) Electroshock therapy;\n(B) Psychosurgery;\n(C) Sterilization;\n(D) Other long-term or permanent contraception.\n(iii) Relinquish the ward's minor child for adoption, provided:\n(A) Notice of any hearing was given to the ward and the legal or putative father; and\n(B) The ward attended the hearing if the court so ordered.\n(iv) Execute any appropriate advance medical directives, including durable power of attorney for health care under W.S. 35-22-403(b) and an individual instruction under W.S. 35-22-403(a).","path":["TITLE 3 - GUARDIAN AND WARD","CHAPTER 2 - GUARDIANSHIPS","ARTICLE 2 - POWERS OF GUARDIANS"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title03.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:31Z","sha256":"c1b3037a153674fe575ebb9c1c5e8965ca0cde4d760696f3c0c642bcd9f05ca5","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-3-2-201","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-3-2-301"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
