Stat. § 3-9-214","heading":"Benefits from governmental programs or civil or military service.","body":"(a) Unless the power of attorney otherwise provides, language in a power of attorney granting general authority with respect to benefits from governmental programs or civil or military service authorizes the agent to:\n(i) Execute vouchers in the name of the principal for allowances and reimbursements payable by the United States or a foreign government or by a state or subdivision of a state to the principal, including allowances and reimbursements for transportation of the persons described in W.S. 3-9-213(a)(i) and for shipment of those persons' household effects;\n(ii) Take possession and order the removal and shipment of property of the principal from a post, warehouse, depot, dock or other place of storage or safekeeping, either governmental or private, and execute and deliver a release, voucher, receipt, bill of lading, shipping ticket, certificate or other instrument for that purpose;\n(iii) Enroll in, apply for, select, reject, change, amend or discontinue, on the principal's behalf, a benefit or program;\n(iv) Prepare, file and maintain a claim of the principal for a benefit or assistance, financial or otherwise, to which the principal may be entitled to receive under a statute or regulation;\n(v) Initiate, participate in, submit to alternative dispute resolution, settle, oppose or propose or accept a compromise with respect to litigation concerning any benefit or assistance the principal may be entitled to receive under a statute or regulation;\n(vi) Receive the financial proceeds of a claim described in paragraph (iv) of this subsection and conserve, invest, disburse or use for a lawful purpose anything so received.\n(b) As used in this section, \"benefits from governmental programs or civil or military service\" means any benefit, program or assistance provided under a statute or regulation including social security, medicare and medicaid.","path":["TITLE 3 - GUARDIAN AND WARD","CHAPTER 9 - UNIFORM POWER OF ATTORNEY ACT","ARTICLE 2 - AUTHORITY"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title03.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:31Z","sha256":"387686660201ac2d3536b2c57f44bd87f22c70b58ed6b3b441472dca3086b5ca","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-3-9-213","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-3-9-215"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
