Stat. § 31-5-602","heading":"Right-of-way in crosswalks.","body":"(a) When traffic-control signals are not in place or not in operation, the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way by slowing down or stopping if need be to yield, to any pedestrian within or entering a crosswalk at either edge of the roadway.\n(b) When traffic-control signals are not in place or not in operation at a school crosswalk, the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian within or entering a school crosswalk at either edge of the roadway by slowing down or stopping.\n(c) No pedestrian shall suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.\n(d) Subsection (a) of this section does not apply under the conditions stated in W.S. 31-5-603(b).\n(e) Whenever any vehicle is stopped at a marked crosswalk or at any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection to permit a pedestrian to cross the roadway, the driver of any other vehicle approaching from the rear shall not overtake and pass the stopped vehicle.","path":["TITLE 31 - MOTOR VEHICLES","CHAPTER 5 - REGULATION OF TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAYS","ARTICLE 6 - PEDESTRIANS' RIGHTS AND DUTIES"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title31.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:32Z","sha256":"936ebb9f3a41cda2ad070e2daa8754a0b444ca41f95f93b54b9f39ce0055fcb9","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-31-5-601","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-31-5-603"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
