Stat. § 35-4-902","heading":"Definitions.","body":"(a) As used in this article:\n(i) \"Opiate antagonist\" means any device or medication approved by the United States food and drug administration for the treatment of an opiate related drug overdose;\n(ii) \"Opiate related drug overdose\" means a condition, including extreme physical illness, a decreased level of consciousness or respiratory depression resulting from the consumption or use of an opioid, or another substance with which an opioid was combined, that a reasonable person would believe to require medical assistance;\n(iii) \"Pharmacist\" means any person licensed under Wyoming statutes as a pharmacist and who is practicing within the scope of their license;\n(iv) \"Practitioner\" means any person licensed under Wyoming statutes as a physician, physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse and who is practicing within the scope of their license;\n(v) \"Standing order\" means an order transmitted electronically or in writing by a practitioner for a drug or device for a patient or multiple patients with whom no prescriber-patient relationship exists;\n(vi) \"Entity\" means any person as defined in W.S. 8-1-102(a)(vi), and includes the University of Wyoming and Wyoming community colleges, who employs persons who, in the course of their official duties or business, may encounter a person experiencing anaphylaxis or an opioid related drug overdose;\n(vii) \"Opioid\" or \"opiate\" means an opiumlike compound that binds to one (1) or more of the major opioid receptors in the body;\n(viii) \"Epinephrine\" means a device or method that administers the drug epinephrine to a person experiencing anaphylaxis and includes epipens, nasal sprays or any other device or method under a different name used for emergency epinephrine delivery for the treatment of anaphylaxis and which device or method is approved by the United States food and drug administration.","path":["TITLE 35 - PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY","CHAPTER 4 - HEALTH REGULATIONS GENERALLY","ARTICLE 9 - EMERGENCY ADMINISTRATION OF MEDICAL TREATMENT ACT"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title35.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:32Z","sha256":"eac66c0fd80f2ac8994bed0d98eaa7cd5290ee7d2aef0e3e561b8bfc7ef9c0e8","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-35-4-901","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-35-4-903"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
