Stat. § 40-26-137","heading":"Pattern or practice case; penalties.","body":"(a) The attorney general may file a claim for relief in district court for appropriate relief if the enforcing authority has reasonable cause to believe that a person is engaged in a pattern or practice of resistance to the full enjoyment of a right granted under this chapter or a person has been denied a right granted by this chapter and that denial raises an issue of general public importance.\n(b) In an action under this section, the court may:\n(i) Award preventive relief, including a permanent or temporary injunction, restraining order, or other order against the person responsible for a violation of this chapter as necessary to assure the full enjoyment of the rights granted by this chapter;\n(ii) Award other appropriate relief, including monetary damages, reasonable attorney's fees, and court costs; and\n(iii) To vindicate the public interest, assess a civil penalty against the respondent in an amount that does not exceed fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) for a first violation and one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) for a second or subsequent violation.\n(c) A person may intervene in an action under this section if the person is a person aggrieved by the discriminatory housing practice or a party to a conciliation agreement concerning the discriminatory housing practice.","path":["TITLE 40 - TRADE AND COMMERCE","CHAPTER 26 - FAIR HOUSING ACT"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title40.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:32Z","sha256":"723910e891473dd2db2fa1e7007b3851b4a02d6302f5fd68501c6ca5281828f1","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-40-26-136","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-40-26-138"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
