Stat. § 42-12-105","heading":"Reasonable opportunity periods for noncitizens applying for medicaid.","body":"Note: this section is effective as of 1/1/2027.\n(a) The department of health shall adhere to the following requirements regarding the reasonable opportunity period for verification of United States citizenship or eligible alien status for medicaid:\n(i) When an applicant's status cannot be verified through available data sources, the department shall provide only a single reasonable opportunity period, consistent with the minimum period required under federal law, for the applicant to provide verification;\n(ii) Medicaid coverage may only be provided provisionally during the reasonable opportunity period;\n(iii) Failure to submit acceptable documentation within the reasonable opportunity period required under federal law shall result in denial or termination of medicaid eligibility, subject to required notice;\n(iv) No additional reasonable opportunity period shall be granted to any applicant for medicaid who has previously been denied eligibility at any time due to a failure to verify citizenship or eligible alien status.","path":["TITLE 42 - WELFARE","CHAPTER 12 - CITIZENS AND QUALIFIED ALIENS STATUS VERIFICATION FOR WELFARE"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title42.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:32Z","sha256":"a524e9b9a2b580b5a25df4c947bdbeab36df083cdb36f4f2ca26eadc4f28d8ea","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-42-12-104","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-42-12-106"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
