Stat. § 6-3-602","heading":"Forgery; penalties.","body":"(a) A person is guilty of forgery if, with intent to defraud, he:\n(i) Alters any writing of another without authority;\n(ii) Makes, completes, executes, authenticates, issues or transfers any writing so that it purports to be the act of another who did not authorize that act, or to have been executed at a time or place or in a numbered sequence other than was in fact the case, or to be a copy of an original when no such original existed; or\n(iii) Utters any writing which he knows to be forged in a manner specified in paragraphs (i) or (ii) of this subsection.\n(b) Except as provided in subsection (c) of this section, forgery is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than ten (10) years, a fine of not more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00), or both.\n(c) Forgery is a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, a fine of not more than seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00), or both, if the writing is a:\n(i) Permit required by W.S. 11-21-102 through 11-21-104; or\n(ii) Number or check number placed on a car or pit car in or about a mine.","path":["TITLE 6 - CRIMES AND OFFENSES","CHAPTER 3 - OFFENSES AGAINST PROPERTY","ARTICLE 6 - FRAUD"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title06.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:32Z","sha256":"ff5e3ebf74f1863dfeb172efe43506375082a7a9c3011eb9c9772159385174ef","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-6-3-601","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-6-3-603"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
