Stat. § 6-5-210","heading":"False reporting to authorities; penalties.","body":"(a) A person who knowingly reports falsely to a 911 emergency reporting system, law enforcement agency or a fire department that:\n(i) A crime has been committed is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, a fine of not more than seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00), or both;\n(ii) An emergency exists is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than one (1) year, a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), or both;\n(iii) An emergency exists, when the false report results in any person suffering serious bodily harm, is guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than five (5) years, a fine of not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), or both;\n(iv) An emergency exists, when the false report results in the death of any person, is guilty of manslaughter punishable as provided in W.S. 6-2-105.","path":["TITLE 6 - CRIMES AND OFFENSES","CHAPTER 5 - OFFENSES AGAINST PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION","ARTICLE 2 - HINDERING GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title06.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:32Z","sha256":"23a323e73273ab90bf84c1f3492121393ea76dff405abcdf448dbe4279f8e45f","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-6-5-209","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-6-5-211"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
