Stat. § 7-3-902","heading":"Definitions.","body":"(a) When used in this act, unless the context requires otherwise, the following definitions apply:\n(i) \"Law enforcement agency\" means a lawfully established federal, state or local public agency that is responsible for the prevention and detection of crime and the enforcement of penal, traffic, regulatory or criminal laws;\n(ii) \"Law enforcement agency of an adjoining state\" includes a law enforcement agency of an adjoining state and any political subdivision of that state;\n(iii) \"Law enforcement employee of an adjoining state\" means an employee of a law enforcement agency trained and certified in accordance with the laws of the state or jurisdiction where regularly employed by the United States, an adjoining state or political subdivision;\n(iv) \"Mutual aid agreement\" or \"an agreement\" means an agreement between two (2) or more law enforcement agencies consistent with the purposes of this act;\n(v) \"Party law enforcement agency\" means a law enforcement agency that is a party to a mutual aid agreement as set forth in this act;\n(vi) \"Wyoming law enforcement agency\" includes a sheriff, municipal, college or university police force, Wyoming highway patrol and the division of criminal investigation;\n(vii) \"Wyoming law enforcement employee\" has the same meaning as \"peace officer\" as defined in W.S. 7-2-101 but does not include those officers specified in W.S. 7-2-101(a)(iv)(K);\n(viii) \"This act\" means W.S. 7-3-901 through 7-3-910.","path":["TITLE 7 - CRIMINAL PROCEDURE","CHAPTER 3 - FUGITIVES AND PREVENTION OF CRIME","ARTICLE 9 - LAW ENFORCEMENT INTERSTATE MUTUAL AID"],"source_url":"https://wyoleg.gov/statutes/compress/title07.pdf","current_through":"2026 Budget Session; as of 2026-07-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-04T00:16:32Z","sha256":"26de0ba0a0c63e6985a1765eb70a2c4eaabee4db6d67011a41a4643e205260aa","source_id":"us-wy","stale":false,"prev":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-7-3-901","next":"us-wy/wyo.-stat.-7-3-903"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
